Annual Day
41st Annual Day was celebrated on August 30,2024,with a grand celebration that showcased the talents and achievements of the students.Thiru. Dr. Mahesh Vakamudi, Pro Vice Chancellor of Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education released the School Souvenir. The Guest of Honour was our alumnus, Shri Srinath Ravichandran,CEO of AGNIKUL. The event also featured honouring 42 doctors who were our alumni.

Talent hunt competitions for this academic year was conducted from 20th to 28th November for the students of Std I to VIII. All the students were encouraged to participate in both the academics and cultural competitions.

Our school conducted a program on Tamil traditional Folk.“Kalaimamani & Grammia Esai Kalanidhi” Dr.Velmurugan, Cine Folk Singer and Dr. S. Shiny,Cine Folk Singer spoke and encouraged the students to develop an interest in traditional folk songs.
BOOK FREE SATURDAY
A fun filled day with no books but plenty of brain activities on learning, health and hygiene and indoor games. A productive day spent by the students of std VI to VIII on a book free Saturday.
WORLD ICON AWARDS
The school congratulates M. Saieshwaran of Std VII B and Nageshwaran of X E for bagging the WORLD ICON AWARDS in Silambam competition.
India Book of World Record
S.B.O.A Mat. & Hr. Sec. School, Annanagar is proud of C.A. Vijay of Std IX E who created a new record in the Backward Rally Skating Marathon. He performed non stop for 3 hours and hence received a title in the India Book of World Records.
READ Program
On the 6th July 2023, the students of Std 7 & 8 gave a beautiful presentation of colourful formation of the letters “READ”. This was an activity to motivate the students to improve on their reading skills and to enhance their knowledge.
Tamil Vizha
Inter school Tamil folk art competitions were conducted on 1 June 2023 by the Tamil department.Various school participated in the competitions. The following competitions Neethi kadhaikal, oyikattam , kummi group dance , elocution, silambam ,group singing competitions were conducted.
Self Defence Workshop
Self defence workshop of Raw Krav Maga ,which is the Israeli Self Defence and combat system was conducted on 24TH June 2023 between 9am to 10.30am . The resource person was Mr.Gopal, demonstration of defense skills, level of strength and dynamic flexibility was done .
Young Achievers Programme
Young Achievers Programme Youth, recognition program organized by Rotary is a unique program where they have selected only 50 Achievers ,who have excelled in various activities. The programme was organized in an historical place which had many memories of Nawabs of Arcot. Nawab Mohammed Asif Ali grandson of the Nawab was the chief guest. He hosted the event in his own palace to encourage the young achievers who can inspire others and play a role in creating a better society. “Child Abuse and Prevention” was the agenda for this event. Children who have been selected can play an active part to eradicate child abuse. “Break the silence and raise out against child abuse”.
Pre-KG Inauguration
The academic year 2023-2024 began for Pre- KG students on 22.06.23. The parents accompanied their wards to the classrooms.The teachers were well-prepared, kind and helpful. They made the kids feel welcome.The children felt very happy and enjoyed playing with their new friends and exploring the school campus.A big inflated elephant was kept at the entrance and it proved to be the center of attraction for the kids. Children loved taking photographs standing beside the inflated balloon elephant.A photo booth was also set up and individual photos of every student was taken in that spot.Refreshments were served to all the parents.On the whole, the first day at school for the Pre-Kg kids proved to be a very pleasant and positive experience for the students, teachers and the parents as well.
International Yoga Day Celebration
As our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, initiated June 21st , the world’s longest day as International day of Yoga , Our school, SBOA Matriculation & Hr. Sec. School always celebrates it in a grand manner involving 85 students of classes, 6,7,8 and 9 along with the NCC students who assembled in the early hours at 6.30 am in our school premises with their yoga mats for a period of one hour at a stretch performing 10 different asanas uniformly.The Asanas were Padmasana, Pachimotasana,Asta uttanasana, Bhujangasana, Shalabasana, Dhanurasana, Ushtrasna, Chakrasana,Trikonasana Matsyasana,Gomukhasana,Savasana .It was a spectacular show to bring out the inner peace in every individual and our school initiates such activities in bringing out the best of every child.
Community outreach by our young green ambassadors!!
It was indeed a pleasure to go on a tree planting drive in our vicinity this morning as part of the green wave movement ( Global biodiversity campaign for youth initiated by UN Environment Program)25 of our students from classes 8 & 9 enthusiastically participated in this green drive of planting native tree saplings, which was presided over by our ward Councillor Mrs.G.V.Nagavalli and initiated by the Correspondent of our School Dr.Nithish A.R.Singh.
Motivation Session for Std X Students
Mr. E.L.Praveen Kirubagaran addressed the students and motivated.Students were briefed about taking Initiative and avoid Procrastination. The speech was an I opener for the students to realize about their own values. “Self realization”.Students were encouraged to feel good about themselves and get self motivated, the speaker highlighted that motivation is more of intrinsic.They were exposed to holistic approach of education where they can develop and enhance Life skills.
World Environment Day
In view of the World Environment Day on the fifth of June 2023, the school did it’s might to create awareness in the public and among the students about the importance of clean and green environment. The management of the SBIOA Educational Trust under the guidance of the President Thiru A. Senthil Ramesh, Secretary and Correspondent Thiru A.V. Joseph, ,the former President Thiru P.Nalla Perumal Pillai,the Associate Secretary Tmt. S.Santhi, the Correspondent of the school Dr. Nithish A.R.Singh and the Principal Tmt.Sunila Cherian, the staff and students of the School flagged off a week – long out reach programme in the neighbourhood.
Cycle rally, slogans, distribution of pamphlets and seed balls, banners, recycling of plastics and planting of saplings were various activities that emphasized on the need to keep the environment green and clean.Craft and paintings by Little green warriors of the KG stole the show.The management members and teachers took an oath to preserve the environment for the next generation.It has been customary for the school to pilot such programmes every year to spread awareness in the society for various causes.
